在ロシア・トルコ通商代表の見解。二ヶ国のうち特にスウェーデンの加盟に、トルコは反対するだろうが、最後まで反対し続けることはできない。加盟を先延ばしにするのがせいぜいで、拒否権行使には至らないだろう。

2007～12年までフランス大統領顧問を務めたHenri Geno氏の見解。フィンランド、スウェーデン、ウクライナ、モルドバ、ジョージア（グルジア）のNATO加盟は認められない。NATOとEUは旧東欧を取り込むことで、組織を反ロシア組織に変質させ、ロシア国境に近づいていった。ロシア側は包囲されていると感じた。欧州の歴史を振り返ると、ロシアがそのように感じた時に戦争が発生した。このような動きは止めるべきだ。
