Turkish State Minister Cevdet Yilmaz said that Turkey-Syria border would become meaningless in the future with the new Inter-regional Cooperation Program.

Yilmaz attended a meeting on Turkey-Syria Inter-regional Cooperation Program on Thursday.

Yilmaz told reporters that the program would make Turkey-Syria border meaningless in the future, adding that borders should lose their meanings in economic, social and cultural aspects.

Borders should be regions which unite people, not keep them apart, he said.

We have decided to extend the cooperation program between Turkey and Syria, said Yilmaz adding that Turkey's provinces near Syrian border would be positively affected from this program.

Noting that Turkey invested 15 million USD and Syria invested 10 million USD in this cooperation program, Yilmaz said that also Islamic Development Bank donated one million USD for the program.
