特にアルジェリアについては、独立までにフランス軍は100万人の現地人を虐殺したと言われている。これだけのことをしておいて、フランスはチュニジア、アルジェリア、モロッコに一言の謝罪も賠償もしていない。最近ようやく「組織的拷問があったこと」は認めたが、謝罪については証拠が足りないとして、頑なに拒否している。
