Protesters have staged more demonstrations in Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia, calling for the release of thousands of political prisoners, Press TV reports.
People took to the streets in a number of towns and villages in the oil-rich province, including the town of Qatif which has been the flashpoint of anti-regime protests in the past months.
The protesters called for greater freedom and condemned the Al Saud regime for its brutal crackdown on peaceful protests.
Protesters also shouted slogans against Mohammed Bin Fahd, the governor of the Eastern Province.
The Arab kingdom, the eastern regions in particular, has experienced a popular uprising, with people demanding political reforms, greater liberties, freedom of expression and the release of political prisoners.
Activists say there are more than 30,000 political prisoners held in jails across Saudi Arabia, who the Saudi-based Human Rights First Society says are being subjected to both physical and mental torture.
Anti-government protests in the Persian Gulf powerhouse have intensified since November, when security forces opened fire on protesters in Qatif, killing five people and leaving many more injured.
The repression of the peaceful protesters drew condemnation from Amnesty International and other human rights organizations.
The Saudi regime has indicated its opposition to the wave of revolutions sweeping the Arab world.
In early 2011, Riyadh offered asylum to ousted Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Bin Ali, supported deposed Egyptian dictator Hosni Mubarak, and actively assisted outgoing Yemeni ruler Ali Abdullah Saleh.
In mid-March, Riyadh sent troops and military equipment to Bahrain upon a request from Manama to help the embattled Al Khalifa royal family quash anti-regime protests in the Persian Gulf island nation.
