文中に日付が明記されていないが、7月23日付け記事なので、軍と治安部隊がホムス市内Bab al-Sibaa'バーブッシバーア（旧市街にある城の東側）で展開している作戦に関する、7月21～22日分の報告だと思う。
前半は、負傷した兵士が、enclaveに入っていって銃撃戦を展開した様子を証言している。あらゆる方向から撃たれた、みたいな話。兵士・隊員30人以上が負傷し、ホムス軍病院に搬入された。何人かは重傷である。
住民は、住民の求めに応じて介入した軍に謝意を表明。
後半は、住民の証言。
「武装集団は3週間以上前にal-Khalidiyyahアル・ハーリディーイェ（城から北へ2km、大通りの東側）からやってきて、住民を脅迫した。労働組合事務所を焼き討ちしようとしたり、薬局から100万シリポン（170万円）相当の医薬品を盗み、店を破壊したりした。ハーリド・ビン・ワリード・モスク（ホムスの大モスク）に押し入り、内部を破壊し、寄付金を盗んだ。
武装集団は自動車を焼き、店を壊し、反政府デモに参加しない住民を殴った。これが彼らが求める自由で、彼らが米国や西側諸国と話している民主主義なのだろうかと思った」。
政府系新聞の記事なので、このような書きぶりになっており、いろいろ突っ込みどころはあると思うが、最後の1段落が外向けの嫌みな作文に仕上がっている（笑）。
